  1. Then Moshe and the people of Isra'el sang this song to ADONAI: "I will sing to ADONAI, for he is highly exalted: the horse and its rider he threw in the sea.

  2. Pharaoh's chariots and his army he hurled into the sea. His elite commanders were drowned in the Sea of Suf.

  3. Who is like you, ADONAI, among the mighty? Who is like you, sublime in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders?

  10. But when they cried out to ADONAI, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, overwhelmed them with the sea and drowned them. Your eyes saw what I did in Egypt, and then you lived in the desert for a long time.

  11. But when Isra'el came up from Egypt, walked through the desert to the Red Sea and arrived at Kadesh,

  12. The channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were exposed at ADONAI's rebuke, at the blast of breath from his nostrils.

  13. "'You saw the distress of our ancestors in Egypt and heard their cry by the Sea of Suf.

  14. You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, against all his servants and the people of the land; for you knew how arrogantly they treated them; and you won yourself a name which is yours to this day.

  15. You divided the sea ahead of them, so that they could pass through the sea on dry land; then you hurled their pursuers into the depths, like a stone into turbulent waters.

  16. He turned the sea into dry land. They passed through the river on foot; there we rejoiced in him.

  17. He split the sea and made them pass through, he made the waters stand up like a wall.

  18. He led them safely, and they weren't afraid, even when the sea overwhelmed their foes.

  19. Our ancestors in Egypt failed to grasp the meaning of your wonders. They didn't keep in mind your great deeds of grace but rebelled at the sea, at the Sea of Suf.

  20. Yet he saved them for his own name's sake, to make known his mighty power.

  21. He rebuked the Sea of Suf, and it dried up; he led them through its depths as through a desert.

  22. He saved them from hostile hands, redeemed them from the power of the foe.

  23. The water closed over their adversaries; not one of them was left.

  24. wonders in the land of Ham, fearsome deeds by the Sea of Suf.

  25. to him who split apart the Sea of Suf, for his grace continues forever;
