  14. As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in God’s sight,

  15. you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

  16. For it stands in Scripture: “See, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”

  17. Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked.

  18. As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father.

  19. And now, little children, remain in Christ, so that when He appears, we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.

  20. No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him.

  21. Whoever keeps His commandments remains in God, and God in him. And by this we know that He remains in us: by the Spirit He has given us.

  22. By this we know that we remain in Him, and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit.

  23. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

  24. Anyone who runs ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God. Whoever remains in His teaching has both the Father and the Son.
