  1. Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father’s flock.

  6. Among the descendants of the priests who had married foreign women were found these descendants of Jeshua son of Jozadak and his brothers:

  7. Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib, and Gedaliah. They pledged to send their wives away, and for their guilt they presented a ram from the flock as a guilt offering.

  8. “The rest of the people—the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the people of the land to obey the Law of God—along with their wives and all their sons and daughters who are able to understand,

  9. But you will be called the priests of the LORD; they will speak of you as ministers of our God; you will feed on the wealth of nations, and you will boast in their riches.

  10. When everything had been prepared in this way, the priests entered regularly into the first room to perform their sacred duties.

  11. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

  12. who has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and power forever and ever! Amen.

  13. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign upon the earth.”

  14. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him for a thousand years.
