  1. Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear His voice,

  2. do not harden your hearts, as you did in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness,

  3. Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

  4. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.

  5. Therefore, brothers, strive to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never stumble,

  6. and you will receive a lavish reception into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  7. Therefore, beloved, since you already know these things, be on your guard so that you will not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure standing.

  8. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

  9. But you, beloved, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,

  10. keep yourselves in the love of God as you await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you eternal life.

  11. Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

  12. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be harmed by the second death.

  13. Nevertheless, hold fast to what you have until I come.

  14. And to the one who overcomes and continues in My work until the end, I will give authority over the nations.

  15. I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

  16. The one who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will never again leave it. Upon him I will write the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from My God), and My new name.
