  1. And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

  2. And it shall be a statute for ever unto you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and shall do no manner of work, the home-born, or the stranger that sojourneth among you:

  3. for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins shall ye be clean before Jehovah.

  4. It is a sabbath of solemn rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls; it is a statute for ever.

  5. And the priest, who shall be anointed and who shall be consecrated to be priest in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments:

  6. and he shall make atonement for the holy sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.

  7. And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make atonement for the children of Israel because of all their sins once in the year. And he did as Jehovah commanded Moses.

  8. And Jehovah said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none defile himself for the dead among his people;

  9. except for his kin, that is near unto him, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,

  10. and for his sister a virgin, that is near unto him, that hath had no husband; for her may he defile himself.

  11. He shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

  12. They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

  13. They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God; for the offerings of Jehovah made by fire, the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

  14. They shall not take a woman that is a harlot, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

  15. Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee; for I Jehovah, who sanctify you, am holy.

  16. And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the harlot, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

  17. And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil is poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not let the hair of his head go loose, nor rend his clothes;

  18. neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

  19. neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am Jehovah.

  20. In the second month on the fourteenth day at even they shall keep it; they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs:

  21. they shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break a bone thereof: according to all the statute of the passover they shall keep it.

  22. But the man that is clean, and is not on a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, that soul shall be cut off from his people; because he offered not the oblation of Jehovah in its appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.

  23. And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto Jehovah; according to the statute of the passover, and according to the ordinance thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one statute, both for the sojourner, and for him that is born in the land.

  24. And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, even the tent of the testimony: and at even it was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until morning.

  25. So it was alway: the cloud covered it, and the appearance of fire by night.
