  1. For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and a homer of seed shall yield but an ephah.

  2. Doth he that ploweth to sow plow continually? doth he continually open and harrow his ground?

  3. When he hath levelled the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and put in the wheat in rows, and the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in the border thereof?

  8. That which the palmer-worm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the canker-worm eaten; and that which the canker-worm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten.

  9. The seeds rot under their clods; the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the grain is withered.

  10. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

  11. And I will sow them among the peoples; and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and shall return.

  12. Behold, I will rebuke your seed, and will spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your feasts; and ye shall be taken away with it.

  13. And he spake to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went forth to sow;

  14. and as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured them:

  15. and others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth: and straightway they sprang up, because they had no deepness of earth:

  16. And others fell upon the thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked them:

  17. And he that was sown upon the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who verily beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

  18. which indeed is less than all seeds; but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and lodge in the branches thereof.

  19. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

  20. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit.

  21. If we sowed unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we shall reap your carnal things?

  22. Thou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die:

  23. and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind;

  24. but God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.

  25. But thisI say, He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
