  1. Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

  2. If thou afflict them at all, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

  3. and my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

  4. He doth execute justice for the fatherless and widow, and loveth the sojourner, in giving him food and raiment.

  5. At the end of every three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase in the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:

  6. and the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.

  7. and thou shalt rejoice before Jehovah thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are in the midst of thee, in the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there.

  8. and thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates.

  9. Thou shalt not wrest the justice due to the sojourner, or to the fatherless, nor take the widow’s raiment to pledge;

  10. but thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and Jehovah thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

  11. When thou reapest thy harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the sojourner, for the fatherless, and for the widow; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hands.

  12. When thou beatest thine olive-tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the sojourner, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

  13. When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it after thee: it shall be for the sojourner, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

  14. And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

  15. When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithe of thine increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then thou shalt give it unto the Levite, to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled.

  16. And thou shalt say before Jehovah thy God, I have put away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandment which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed any of thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:

  17. Cursed be he that wresteth the justice due to the sojourner, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.

  18. Yea, ye would castlotsupon the fatherless, And make merchandise of your friend.

  19. Thou hast sent widows away empty, And the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

  20. They drive away the ass of the fatherless; They take the widow’s ox for a pledge.

  21. There are that pluck the fatherless from the breast, And take a pledge of the poor;

  22. Because I delivered the poor that cried, The fatherless also, that had none to help him.

  23. The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me; And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.

  24. If I have withheld the poor fromtheirdesire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

  25. Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the fatherless hath not eaten thereof
