  1. And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

  2. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

  3. Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee; And the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

  4. Who knoweth not in all these, That the hand of Jehovah hath wrought this,

  5. He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; He overturneth the mountains by the roots.

  6. He cutteth out channels among the rocks; And his eye seeth every precious thing.

  7. He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; And the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.

  8. The earth is Jehovah’s, and the fulness thereof; The world, and they that dwell therein.

  9. For he hath founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the floods.

  10. Who laid the foundations of the earth, That it should not be moved for ever.

  11. Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a vesture; The waters stood above the mountains.

  12. At thy rebuke they fled; At the voice of thy thunder they hasted away

  13. (The mountains rose, the valleys sank down) Unto the place which thou hadst founded for them.

  14. Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; That they turn not again to cover the earth.

  15. He sendeth forth springs into the valleys; They run among the mountains;

  16. They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild asses quench their thirst.

  17. By them the birds of the heavens have their habitation; They sing among the branches.

  18. He watereth the mountains from his chambers: The earth is filled with the fruit of thy works.

  19. For this they wilfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and amidst water, by the word of God;

  20. by which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

  21. but the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
