  13. for consider again him who endured such gainsaying from the sinners to himself, that ye may not be wearied in your souls--being faint.

  14. and ye have forgotten the exhortation that doth speak fully with you as with sons, `My son, be not despising chastening of the Lord, nor be faint, being reproved by Him,

  15. and let the endurance have a perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire--in nothing lacking;

  16. An example take ye of the suffering of evil, my brethren, and of the patience, the prophets who did speak in the name of the Lord;

  17. having your behaviour among the nations right, that in that which they speak against you as evil-doers, of the good works having beheld, they may glorify God in a day of inspection.

  18. for what renown is it , if sinning and being buffeted, ye do endure it ? but if, doing good and suffering for it , ye do endure, this is gracious with God,

  19. for to this ye were called, because Christ also did suffer for you, leaving to you an example, that ye may follow his steps,

  20. who did not commit sin, nor was guile found in his mouth,

  21. who being reviled--was not reviling again, suffering--was not threatening, and was committing himself to Him who is judging righteously,

  22. `Because thou didst keep the word of my endurance, I also will keep thee from the hour of the trial that is about to come upon all the world, to try those dwelling upon the earth.
