  1. Then I said, “Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they don’t know the way of the LORD, nor the law of their God.

  2. I will go to the great men, and will speak to them; for they know the way of the LORD, and the law of their God.” But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

  8. all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, Nergal Sharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.

  9. When Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled, and went out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out toward the Arabah.

  10. But the army of the Kasdim pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he gave judgment on him.

  11. Then the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon killed all the nobles of Judah.

  12. Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.

  13. The Kasdim burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.

  14. Thus says the Lord GOD: This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the midst of the nations, and countries are around her.

  15. She has rebelled against my ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are around her; for they have rejected my ordinances, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them.

  16. Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you are turbulent more than the nations that are around you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my ordinances, neither have done after the ordinances of the nations that are around you;

  17. therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I, even I, am against you; and I will execute judgments in your midst in the sight of the nations.

  18. He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold, a hole in the wall.

  19. Then he said to me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had dug in the wall, behold, a door.

  20. He said to me, Go in, and see the wicked abominations that they do here.

  21. So I went in and saw; and see, every form of creeping things, and abominable animals, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed around on the wall.

  22. and the gates of the city shall be after the names of the tribes of Israel, three gates northward: the gate of Reuben, one; the gate of Judah, one; the gate of Levi, one.

  23. At the east side four thousand and five hundred reeds, and three gates: even the gate of Joseph, one; the gate of Benjamin, one; the gate of Dan, one.

  24. At the south side four thousand and five hundred reeds by measure, and three gates: the gate of Simeon, one; the gate of Issachar, one; the gate of Zebulun, one.

  25. At the west side four thousand and five hundred reeds, with their three gates: the gate of Gad, one; the gate of Asher, one; the gate of Naphtali, one.
