  1. One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.

  2. Then the LORD said to me, What do you see, Jeremiah? I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, that can’t be eaten, they are so bad.

  3. He spoke this parable. “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none.

  4. He said to the vine dresser, ‘Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down. Why does it waste the soil?’

  5. He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and fertilize it.

  6. If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’”

  7. He told them a parable. “See the fig tree, and all the trees.

  8. When they are already budding, you see it and know by your own selves that the summer is already near.

  9. Even so you also, when you see these things happening, know that the Kingdom of God is near.
