  1. One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.

  2. Then said Jehovah unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, that cannot be eaten, they are so bad.

  3. And he spake this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit thereon, and found none.

  4. And he said unto the vinedresser, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why doth it also cumber the ground?

  5. And he answering saith unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

  6. and if it bear fruit thenceforth, well; but if not, thou shalt cut it down.

  7. And he spake to them a parable: Behold the fig tree, and all the trees:

  8. when they now shoot forth, ye see it and know of your own selves that the summer is now nigh.

  9. Even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh.
