  1. One basket had very good figs, like the figs of the first season: and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, because they were bad.

  2. And the Lord said to me: What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said: Figs, the good figs, very good: and the bad figs, very bad, which cannot be eaten because they are bad.

  3. He spoke also this parable: A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard: and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.

  4. And he said to the dresser of the vineyard: Behold, for these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree and I find none. Cut it down therefore. Why cumbereth it the ground?

  5. But he answering, said to him: Lord, let it alone this year also, until I dig about it and dung it.

  6. And if happily it bear fruit: but if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

  7. And he spoke to them a similitude. See the fig tree and all the trees:

  8. When they now shoot forth their fruit, you know that summer is nigh;

  9. So you also, when you shall see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is at hand.
