  1. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

  2. And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

  3. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

  11. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

  12. But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

  13. And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.

  14. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

  15. And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

  16. And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

  17. ¶ And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

  18. Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

  19. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

  20. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

  21. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

  22. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

  23. ¶ And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

  24. And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

  25. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
