  1. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.

  2. And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.

  6. And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.

  7. And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.

  8. And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.

  9. And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.

  10. And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.

  11. ¶ And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.

  12. And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

  13. And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.

  14. And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.

  15. And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.

  16. Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?

  17. Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

  18. Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.

  19. ¶ Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.

  20. And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,

  21. And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;

  22. And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day;

  23. And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came into this place;

  24. And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:

  25. But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.
