  1. But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

  2. And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

  3. That no flesh should glory in his presence.

  4. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

  5. That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

  6. And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

  7. ¶ For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

  8. ¶ For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

  9. But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

  10. For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:

  11. Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

  12. To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.

  13. But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

  14. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

  15. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  16. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
