  1. When Iesus was entred into Capernaum, there came vnto him a Centurion, beseeching him,

  2. And saide, Master, my seruant lieth sicke at home of the palsie, and is grieuously pained.

  3. And Iesus saide vnto him, I will come and heale him.

  4. But the Centurion answered, saying, Master, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come vnder my roofe: but speake the worde onely, and my seruant shall be healed.

  5. For I am a man also vnder the authoritie of an other, and haue souldiers vnder me: and I say to one, Goe, and he goeth: and to another, Come, and he commeth: and to my seruant, Doe this, and he doeth it.

  6. When Iesus heard that, he marueiled, and said to them that folowed him, Verely, I say vnto you, I haue not found so great faith, euen in Israel.

  7. And he answered, and said, It is not good to take the childrens bread, and to cast it to whelps.

  8. But she said, Trueth, Lord: yet in deede the whelpes eate of the crommes, which fall from their masters table.

  9. Then Iesus answered, and saide vnto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it to thee, as thou desirest. And her daughter was made whole at that houre.

  10. But Iesus saide vnto her, Let the children first be fedde: for it is not good to take the childrens bread, and to cast it vnto whelpes.

  11. Then shee answered, and saide vnto him, Trueth, Lord: yet in deede the whelpes eate vnder the table of the childrens crommes.

  12. Then he said vnto her, For this saying goe thy way: the deuil is gone out of thy daughter.

  13. And when shee was come home to her house, shee founde the deuill departed, and her daughter lying on the bed.

  14. And when he heard of Iesus, hee sent vnto him the Elders of the Iewes, beseeching him that he would come, and heale his seruant.

  15. So they came to Iesus, and besought him instantly, saying that hee was worthy that hee should doe this for him:

  16. For he loueth, said they, our nation, and he hath built vs a Synagogue.

  17. Then Iesus went with them: but when he was now not farre from the house, the Centurion sent friendes to him, saying vnto him, Lord, trouble not thy selfe: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter vnder my roofe:

  18. Wherefore I thought not my selfe worthy to come vnto thee: but say the word, and my seruant shalbe whole:

  19. For I likewise am a man set vnder authoritie, and haue vnder mee souldiers, and I say vnto one, Goe, and he goeth: and to another, Come, and hee commeth: and to my seruant, Doe this, and he doeth it.

  20. When Iesus heard these things, he marueiled at him, and turned him, and said to the people, that followed him, I say vnto you, I haue not found so great faith, no not in Israel.

  21. Then Simon Peter answered him, Master, to whome shall we goe? thou hast the wordes of eternall life:

  22. And we beleeue and knowe that thou art that Christ that Sonne of the liuing God.

  23. And many resorted vnto him, and saide, Iohn did no miracle: but all thinges that Iohn spake of this man, were true.

  24. And many beleeued in him there.

  25. Then said Martha vnto Iesus, Lord, if thou hadst bene here, my brother had not bene dead.
