  1. For I know that he will command his children, and his household after him, to keep the way of the Lord, and do judgment and justice: that for Abraham's sake, the Lord may bring to effect all the things he hath spoken unto him.

  12. The Lord therefore hath granted me life, as he promised until this present day, It is forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word to Moses, when Israel journeyed through the wilderness: this day I am eighty-five years old,

  13. As strong as I was at that time when I was sent to view the land: the strength of that time continueth in me until this day, as well to fight as to march.

  14. Give me therefore this mountain, which the Lord promised, in thy hearing also, wherein are the Enacims, and cities great and strong: if so be the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to destroy them, as he promised me.

  15. And Joshua blessed him, and gave him Hebron in possession.

  16. And from that time Hebron belonged to Caleb the son of Jephone the Cenezite, until this present day: because he followed the Lord the God of Israel.

  17. And said to them: You have done all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you: you have also obeyed me in all things,

  18. And the people said to Joshua: We will serve the Lord our God, and we will be obedient to his commandments.

  19. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, and keep my precepts and my commandments, as thy father walked, I will lengthen thy days.

  20. And he stuck to the Lord, and departed not from his steps, but kept his commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses.

  21. And I will no more make the feet of Israel to be moved out of the land, which I gave to their fathers: only if they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, according to the law which my servant Moses commanded them.

  22. And I said: I beseech thee, O Lord God of heaven, strong, great, and terrible, who keepest covenant and mercy with those that love thee, and keep thy commandments:

  23. But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night.

  24. As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

  25. In whose hands are iniquities: their right hand is filled with gifts.
