  1. And God said: Let there be lights made in the firmament of heaven, to divide the day and the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years:

  2. To shine in the firmament of heaven, and to give light upon the earth, and it was so done.

  3. And God made two great lights: a greater light to rule the day; and a lesser light to rule the night: and the stars.

  4. And the flood was forty days upon the earth: and the waters increased, and lifted up the ark on high from the earth.

  18. It shall not be compared with the dyed colours of India, or with the most precious stone sardonyx, or the sapphire.

  19. Gold or crystal cannot equal it, neither shall any vessels of gold be changed for it.

  20. High and eminent things shall not be mentioned in comparison of it: but wisdom is drawn out of secret places.

  21. The topaz of Ethiopia shall not be equal to it, neither shall it be compared to the cleanest dyeing.

  22. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

  23. Thou wilt sleep a little, thou wilt slumber a little, thou wilt fold thy hands a little to sleep:

  24. And want shall come upon thee, as a traveller, and poverty as a man armed. But if thou be diligent, thy harvest shall come as a fountain, and want shall flee far from thee.
