  1. Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food,

  2. and someone says to him, “Shalom! Keep warm and eat hearty!” without giving him what he needs, what good does it do?

  3. Thus, faith by itself, unaccompanied by actions, is dead.

  4. But someone will say that you have faith and I have actions. Show me this faith of yours without the actions, and I will show you my faith by my actions!

  10. You see that a person is declared righteous because of actions and not because of faith alone.

  11. Likewise, wasn’t Rachav the prostitute also declared righteous because of actions when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by another route?

  12. Indeed, just as the body without a spirit is dead, so too faith without actions is dead.

  13. This is why the Tanakh says, “Look! I am laying in Tziyon a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and whoever rests his trust on it will certainly not be humiliated.”

  14. Now to you who keep trusting, he is precious. But to those who are not trusting, “The very stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone”;

  15. because everything which has God as its Father overcomes the world. And this is what victoriously overcomes the world: our trust.

  16. Who does overcome the world if not the person who believes that Yeshua is the Son of God?

  17. I have written you these things so that you may know that you have eternal life — you who keep trusting in the person and power of the Son of God.

  18. This is the confidence we have in his presence: if we ask anything that accords with his will, he hears us.
