  1. And if a brother or sister be naked and want daily food:

  2. And one of you say to them: Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; yet give them not those things that are necessary for the body, what shall it profit?

  3. So faith also, if it have not works, is dead in itself.

  4. But some man will say: Thou hast faith, and I have works. Shew me thy faith without works; and I will shew thee, by works, my faith.

  13. Wherefore it is said in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious. And he that shall believe in him shall not be confounded.

  14. To you therefore that believe, he is honour: but to them that believe not, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner:

  15. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world. And this is the victory which overcameth the world: Our faith.

  16. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

  17. These things I write to you that you may know that you have eternal life: you who believe in the name of the Son of God.

  18. And this is the confidence which we have towards him: That, whatsoever we shall ask according to his will, he heareth us.
