  1. “Wait here until I find out what the LORD commands concerning you,” Moses replied.

  2. Then the LORD said to Moses,

  3. “Tell the Israelites: ‘When any one of you or your descendants is unclean because of a dead body, or is away on a journey, he may still observe the Passover to the LORD.

  4. Such people are to observe it at twilight on the fourteenth day of the second month. They are to eat the lamb, together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs;

  5. and because it had not been declared what should be done to him, they placed him in custody.

  6. And the LORD said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death. The whole congregation is to stone him outside the camp.”

  7. So Moses brought their case before the LORD,

  8. and the LORD answered him,

  9. “The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers, and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.

  10. Furthermore, you shall say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, you are to transfer his inheritance to his daughter.

  11. If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers.

  12. If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.

  13. And if his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the next of kin from his clan, that he may take possession of it. This is to be a statutory ordinance for the Israelites, as the LORD has commanded Moses.’”
