  9. then your heart will become proud, and you will forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

  10. He led you through the vast and terrifying wilderness with its venomous snakes and scorpions, a thirsty and waterless land. He brought you water from the rock of flint.

  11. He fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers had not known, in order to humble you and test you, so that in the end He might cause you to prosper.

  12. You might say in your heart, “The power and strength of my hands have made this wealth for me.”

  13. But remember that it is the LORD your God who gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm His covenant that He swore to your fathers even to this day.

  14. When I have brought them into the land that I swore to give their fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey, they will eat their fill and prosper. Then they will turn to other gods and worship them, and they will reject Me and break My covenant.

  15. But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked— becoming fat, bloated, and gorged. He abandoned the God who made him and scorned the Rock of his salvation.

  19. The one at ease scorns misfortune as the fate of those whose feet are slipping.

  20. If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored. If you remove injustice from your tents

  21. and consign your gold to the dust and the gold of Ophir to the stones of the ravines,

  22. then the Almighty will be your gold and the finest silver for you.

  23. Surely then you will delight in the Almighty and lift up your face to God.

  24. You will pray to Him, and He will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows.

  25. Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain; unless the LORD protects the city, its watchmen stand guard in vain.
