  1. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

  2. Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

  3. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

  4. And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin.

  5. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.

  6. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

  7. Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

  8. For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

  9. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

  10. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.

  11. While He was still speaking, messengers from the house of Jairus arrived and said, “Your daughter is dead; why bother the Teacher anymore?”

  12. But Jesus overheard their conversation and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”

  13. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well.

  14. Instead, your hearts are filled with sorrow because I have told you these things.

  15. But I tell you the truth, it is for your benefit that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

  16. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

  17. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
