  1. For all these things hath my hand made, and so all these things came to be, saith Jehovah: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my word.

  2. The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of Jehovah; and what manner of wisdom is in them?

  6. Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

  7. And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they hearkened not.

  8. But I will tell thee that which is inscribed in the writing of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me against these, but Michael your prince.

  9. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

  10. Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

  11. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

  15. For Moses said, Honor thy father and thy mother; and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die the death:

  16. but ye say, If a man shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is Corban, that is to say, Given to God;

  17. ye no longer suffer him to do aught for his father or his mother;

  18. making void the word of God by your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things ye do.

  19. Have ye not read even this scripture: The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;

  20. But he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these that hear the word of God, and do it.

  21. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

  22. But Abraham saith, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

  23. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.

  24. And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

  25. Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures;
