  1. He had yet one, a beloved son: he sent him last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

  2. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.

  3. And they took him, and killed him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard.

  4. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

  5. Have ye not read even this scripture: The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;

  6. This was from the Lord, And it is marvellous in our eyes?

  7. And they sought to lay hold on him; and they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spake the parable against them: and they left him, and went away.

  8. for I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that which thou layedst not down, and reapest that which thou didst not sow.

  9. He saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up that which I laid not down, and reaping that which I did not sow;

  10. And they, when they heard it, went out one by one, beginning from the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst.

  11. the chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, bidding that he should be examined by scourging, that he might know for what cause they so shouted against him.

  12. Wherefore thou art without excuse, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest dost practise the same things.
