  1. And moreover I have heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.

  2. If thou afflict them at all, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

  3. for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

  4. And Jehovah said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken; for thou hast found favor in my sight, and I know thee by name.

  5. And he said, Show me, I pray thee, thy glory.

  8. For what great nation is there, that hath a god so nigh unto them, as Jehovah our God is whensoever we call upon him?

  9. But from thence ye shall seek Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt find him, when thou searchest after him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

  10. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, in the latter days thou shalt return to Jehovah thy God, and hearken unto his voice:

  11. for Jehovah thy God is a merciful God; he will not fail thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

  12. And Solomon stood before the altar of Jehovah in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven;

  13. For thou didst separate them from among all the peoples of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord Jehovah.

  14. And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Jehovah searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts. If thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

  15. If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

  16. if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

  17. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent, unto the prayer that is made in this place.

  18. If thou wouldest seek diligently unto God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty;

  19. If thou wert pure and upright: Surely now he would awake for thee, And make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

  20. I am as one that is a laughing-stock to his neighbor, I who called upon God, and he answered: The just, the perfect man is a laughing-stock.

  21. Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee; And thou shalt pay thy vows.

  22. He prayeth unto God, and he is favorable unto him, So that he seeth his face with joy: And he restoreth unto man his righteousness.

  23. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; For thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

  24. For he that maketh inquisition for blood remembereth them; He forgetteth not the cry of the poor.

  25. Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek: Thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear;
