  8. Every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel shall be wife to one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may each possess the inheritance of his fathers.

  9. So shall no inheritance move from one tribe to another tribe; for the tribes of the children of Israel shall each keep his own inheritance.’”

  10. The daughters of Zelophehad did as the LORD commanded Moses:

  11. for Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to their father’s brothers’ sons.

  12. They were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph. Their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

  13. These are the commandments and the ordinances which the LORD commanded by Moses to the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.

  14. neither shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to his son, nor shall you take his daughter for your son.

  15. For he will turn away your son from following me, that they may serve other gods. So the LORD’s anger would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.

  16. If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend, who is as your own soul, entices you secretly, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” which you have not known, you, nor your fathers;

  17. of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near to you, or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth;

  18. you shall not consent to him, nor listen to him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him;

  19. but you shall surely kill him. Your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hands of all the people.

  20. You shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

  21. When a man takes a wife and marries her, then it shall be, if she finds no favor in his eyes, because he has found some unseemly thing in her, that he shall write her a bill of divorce, and put it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

  22. His father went down to the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.

  23. Now Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there. Behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by; to whom he said, “Come over here, friend, and sit down!” He turned aside, and sat down.

  24. He took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, “Sit down here.” They sat down.

  25. He said to the near kinsman, “Naomi, who has come back out of the country of Moab, is selling the parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s.
