  1. ¶ Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

  2. Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

  3. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

  4. From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

  5. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

  6. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

  7. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

  8. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

  9. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

  10. And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

  11. ¶ These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

  12. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

  13. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

  14. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

  15. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

  16. Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

  17. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

  18. And when ye come into an house, salute it.

  19. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

  20. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

  21. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

  22. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

  23. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

  24. And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

  25. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
