  1. ¶ Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes: for their deceit is falsehood.

  2. Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross: therefore I love thy testimonies.

  3. My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.

  4. ¶ AIN. I have done judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressors.

  5. Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.

  6. ¶ Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.

  7. ¶ Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.

  8. I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.

  9. ¶ The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

  10. To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

  11. To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

  12. To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

  13. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

  14. To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

  15. ¶ Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

  16. She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

  17. How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

  18. Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

  19. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

  20. But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

  21. I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

  22. When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

  23. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

  24. For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

  25. They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
