  1. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

  2. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

  3. For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

  4. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

  5. Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

  6. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

  7. But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:

  8. Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?

  9. For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

  10. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

  11. Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

  12. Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

  13. ¶ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

  14. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

  15. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

  16. ¶ Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

  17. Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

  18. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

  19. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

  20. ¶ Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

  21. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

  22. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

  23. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

  24. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

  25. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
