  1. And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,

  2. The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan,

  3. And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant,

  4. And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

  5. And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.

  6. But of all clean fowls ye may eat.

  7. If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:

  8. But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.

  9. ¶ Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?

  10. Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,

  11. And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.

  12. She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;

  13. Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.

  14. What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.

  15. ¶ Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?

  16. Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?

  17. She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.

  18. From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.

  19. Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.

  20. For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

  21. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

  22. All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

  23. The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

  24. ¶ Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
