  1. In any wise he shall not prepare him many horses, nor bring the people againe to Egypt, for to encrease the number of horses, seeing the Lord hath sayd vnto you, Ye shall henceforth goe no more againe that way.

  2. Neither shall hee take him many wiues, lest his heart turne away, neither shall he gather him much siluer and golde.

  3. And when he shall sit vpon the throne of his kingdo, then shall he write him this Law repeted in a booke, by the Priests of the Leuites.

  4. And it shall be with him, and he shall reade therein all daies of his life, that he may learne to feare the Lord his God, and to keepe all ye words of this Lawe, and these ordinances for to doe them:

  5. That his heart be not lifted vp aboue his brethren, and that he turne not from the commandement, to the right hand or to the left, but that he may prolong his daies in his kingdom, he, and his sonnes in the middes of Israel.

  6. And the Iudges shall make diligent inquisition: and if the witnesse be found false, and hath giuen false witnes against his brother,

  7. Then shall yee doe vnto him as hee had thought to doe vnto his brother: so thou shalt take euil away forth of the middes of thee.

  8. The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children put to death for the fathers, but euery man shalbe put to death for his owne sinne.

  9. When there shall be strife betweene men, and they shall come vnto iudgement, and sentence shall be giuen vpon them, and the righteous shall be iustified, and the wicked condemned,

  10. Cursed be he that hindreth the right of the stranger, the fatherles, and the widow: And all the people shall say: So be it.

  11. Onely be thou strong, and of a most valiant courage, that thou mayest obserue and doe according to all the Lawe which Moses my seruant hath commanded thee: thou shalt not turne away from it to the right hande, nor to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoeuer thou goest.

  12. Let not this booke of the Law depart out of thy mouth, but meditate therin day and night, that thou mayest obserue and doe according to all that is written therein: for then shalt thou make thy way prosperous, and then shalt thou haue good successe.

  13. So Samuel told all the wordes of the Lord vnto the people that asked a King of him.

  14. And he saide, This shall be the maner of the King that shall reigne ouer you: he will take your sonnes, and appoint them to his charets, and to be his horsemen, and some shall runne before his charet.

  15. Also he will make them his captaines ouer thousands, and captaines ouer fifties, and to eare his ground, and to reape his haruest, and to make instruments of warre, and the thinges that serue for his charets.

  16. He will also take your daughters and make them apoticaries, and cookes, and bakers.

  17. And he will take your fieldes, and your vineyardes, and your best Oliue trees, and giue them to his seruants.

  18. And he will take the tenth of your seede, and of your vineyards, and giue it to his Eunuches, and to his seruants.

  19. And he will take your men seruants, and your maide seruants, and the chiefe of your yong men, and your asses, and put them to his worke.

  20. He will take the tenth of your sheepe, and ye shall be his seruants.

  21. And ye shall crie out at that day, because of your King, whom ye haue chosen you, and the Lord will not heare you at that day.

  22. The God of Israel spake to me, ye strength of Israel saide, Thou shalt beare rule ouer men, being iust, and ruling in the feare of God.

  23. Euen as the morning light when the sunne riseth, the morning, I say, without cloudes, so shall mine house be, and not as the grasse of the earth is by the bright raine.

  24. In the seuen and thirtieth yere of Ioash King of Iudah began Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteene yeere,

  25. And did euil in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat that made Israel to sinne, but he walked therein.
