  1. Moreouer, thou shalt not do iniurie to a stranger, neither oppresse him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

  2. Ye shall not trouble any widowe, nor fatherlesse childe.

  3. If thou vexe or trouble such, and so he call and cry vnto me, I will surely heare his cry.

  4. Then shall my wrath be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wiues shall be widowes, and your children fatherlesse.

  8. Thou shalt giue him his hire for his day, neither shall the sunne goe downe vpon it: for he is poore, and therewith susteineth his life: lest he crye against thee vnto the Lord, and it be sinne vnto thee.

  9. This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of tyrants, which they shall receiue of the Almightie.

  10. If his children be in great nomber, the sworde shall destroy them, and his posteritie shall not be satisfied with bread.

  11. His remnant shall be buried in death, and his widowes shall not weepe.

  12. Though he shoulde heape vp siluer as the dust, and prepare rayment as the clay,

  13. He may prepare it, but the iust shall put it on, and the innocent shall deuide the siluer.

  14. He buildeth his house as the moth, and as a lodge that the watchman maketh.

  15. When the rich man sleepeth, he shall not be gathered to his fathers: they opened their eyes, and he was gone.

  16. Terrours shall take him as waters, and a tempest shall cary him away by night.

  17. The East winde shall take him away, and he shall depart: and it shall hurle him out of his place.

  18. And God shall cast vpon him and not spare, though he would faine flee out of his hand.

  19. Euery man shall clap their hands at him, and hisse at him out of their place.

  20. The Lord also wil be a refuge for the poore, a refuge in due time, euen in affliction.

  21. Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the poore: thou preparest their heart: thou bendest thine eare to them,

  22. To iudge the fatherlesse and poore, that earthly man cause to feare no more.

  23. Now for the oppression of the needy, and for the sighes of the poore, I will vp, sayeth the Lord, and will set at libertie him, whom the wicked hath snared.

  24. Trust not in oppression nor in robberie: be not vaine: if riches increase, set not your heart thereon.

  25. Oh let not the oppressed returne ashamed, but let the poore and needie prayse thy Name.
