  1. Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knewe that they were naked, and they sewed figge tree leaues together, and made them selues breeches.

  2. Afterward they heard the voyce of the Lord God walking in the garden in the coole of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselues from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

  3. But the Lord God called to the man, and said vnto him, Where art thou?

  4. Who saide, I heard thy voyce in the garden, and was afraide: because I was naked, therefore I hid my selfe.

  5. And he saide, Who tolde thee, that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eate?

  6. Then the Lord said vnto Kain, Where is Habel thy brother? Who answered, I cannot tell. Am I my brothers keeper?

  7. Againe he said, What hast thou done? the voyce of thy brothers blood cryeth vnto me from the earth.

  8. Now therefore thou art cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receiue thy brothers blood from thine hand.

  9. For his eyes are vpon the wayes of man, and he seeth all his goings.

  10. There is no darkenesse nor shadowe of death, that the workers of iniquitie might be hid therein.

  11. For ye your selues knowe perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall come, euen as a thiefe in the night.

  12. For when they shall say, Peace, and safetie, then shall come vpon them sudden destruction, as the trauaile vpon a woman with childe, and they shall not escape,

  13. For if the worde spoken by Angels was stedfast, and euery transgression, and disobedience receiued a iust recompence of reward,

  14. How shall we escape, if we neglect so great saluation, which at the first began to be preached by the Lord, and afterward was confirmed vnto vs by them that heard him,

  15. See that ye despise not him that speaketh: for if they escaped not which refused him, that spake on earth: much more shall we not escape, if we turne away from him, that speaketh from heauen.

  16. Whose voyce then shooke the earth and nowe hath declared, saying, Yet once more will I shake, not the earth onely, but also heauen.

  17. And the Kinges of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chiefe captaines, and the mighty men, and euery bondman, and euery free man, hid themselues in dennes, and among the rockes of the mountaines,

  18. And said to the mountaines and rocks, Fal on vs, and hide vs from the presence of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lambe.

  19. For the great day of his wrath is come, and who can stand?
