  1. And when Moses came down from the Mount Sinai, he held the two tables of the testimony, and he knew not that his face was horned from the conversation of the Lord.

  2. And Aaron and the children of Israel seeing the face of Moses horned, were afraid to come near.

  3. And being called by him, they returned, both Aaron and the rulers of the congregation. And after that he spoke to them,

  4. And all the children of Israel came to him: and he gave them in commandment all that he had heard of the Lord on Mount Sinai.

  5. And having done speaking, he put a veil upon his face.

  6. But when he went in to the Lord, and spoke with him, he took it away until he came forth, and then he spoke to the children of Israel all things that had been commanded him.

  7. And they saw that the face of Moses when he came out was horned, but he covered his face again, if at any time he spoke to them.

  8. And he was transfigured before them. And his face did shine as the sun: and his garments became white as snow.

  9. And behold there appeared to them Moses and Elias talking with him.

  10. And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

  11. And as he was yet speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them. And lo a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear ye him.

  12. And the disciples hearing fell upon their face, and were very much afraid.

  13. And Jesus came and touched them: and said to them: Arise, and fear not.

  14. And they lifting up their eyes, saw no one, but only Jesus.

  15. And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying: Tell the vision to no man, till the Son of man be risen from the dead.

  16. And his garments became shining and exceeding white as snow, so as no fuller upon earth can make white.

  17. And there appeared to them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

  18. And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. And let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

  19. For he knew not what he said: for they were struck with fear.

  20. And there was a cloud overshadowing them. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my most beloved Son. Hear ye him.

  21. And immediately looking about, they saw no man any more, but Jesus only with them.

  22. And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them not to tell any man what things they had seen, till the Son of man shall be risen again from the dead.

  23. And they kept the word to themselves; questioning together what that should mean, when he shall be risen from the dead.

  24. And they asked him, saying: Why then do the Pharisees and scribes say that Elias must come first?

  25. And whilst he prayed, the shape of his countenance was altered and his raiment became white and glittering.
