Bible Verses About The Call of God
Key Bible Verses
And he sent his servants to call them that were invited to the marriage: and they would not come.
Again he sent other servants, saying: Tell them that were invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my beeves and fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come ye to the marriage.
But they neglected and went their ways, one to his farm and another to his merchandise.
And the rest laid hands on his servants and, having treated them contumeliously, put them to death.
But when the king had heard of it, he was angry: and sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers and burnt their city.
All things therefore whatsoever they shall say to you, observe and do: but according to their works do ye not. For they say, and do not.
For they bind heavy and insupportable burdens and lay them on men's shoulders: but with a finger of their own they will not move them.
And all their works they do for to be seen of men. For they make their phylacteries broad and enlarge their fringes.
And they love the first places at feasts and the first chairs in the synagogues,
And salutations in the market place, and to be called by men, Rabbi.
But be not you called Rabbi. For one is your master: and all you are brethren.
And call none your father upon earth; for one is your father, who is in heaven.
And some believed the things that were said: but some believed not.
And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, Paul speaking this one word: Well did the Holy Ghost speak to our fathers by Isaias the prophet,
Saying: Go to this people and say to them: With the ear you shall hear and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see and shall not perceive.
For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears have they heard heavily and their eyes they have shut, lest perhaps they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and should be converted: and I should heal them.
As it is written: God hath given them the spirit of insensibility; eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear, until this present day.
And David saith: Let their table be made a snare and a trap and a stumbling block and a recompense unto them.
Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see: and bow down their back always.
Therefore ought we more diligently to observe the things which we have heard lest perhaps we should let them slip.
For if the word spoken by angels became steadfast and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward:
How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? Which, having begun to be declared by the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.
