Key Bible Verses
For I say, by the grace that is given me, to all that are among you, not to be more wise than it behoveth to be wise, but to be wise unto sobriety and according as God hath divided to every one the measure of faith.
Therefore, let us not sleep, as others do: but let us watch, and be sober.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breast plate of faith and charity and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
In like manner, women also in decent apparel: adorning themselves with modesty and sobriety, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly attire:
It behoveth therefore a bishop to be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober, prudent, of good behaviour, chaste, given to hospitality, a teacher,
Not given to wine, no striker, but modest, not quarrelsome, not covetous, but
The women in like manner: chaste, not slanderers, but sober, faithful in all things.
But given to hospitality, gentle, sober, just, holy, continent:
That the aged men be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience.
That they may teach the young women to be wise, to love their husbands, to love their children.
Young men, in like manner, exhort that they be sober.
For the grace of God our Saviour hath appeared to all men:
Instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly and justly and godly in this world,
Wherefore, having the loins of your mind girt up, being sober, trust perfectly in the grace which is offered you in the revelation of Jesus Christ.
But the end of all is at hand. Be prudent therefore and watch in prayers.
Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour.
