But they provoked thee to wrath, and departed from thee, and threw thy law behind their backs: and they killed thy prophets, who admonished them earnestly to return to thee: and they were guilty of great blasphemies.
And he declared to them the greatness of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and with how great glory the king had advanced him above all his princes and servants.
And his possession was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a family exceedingly great: and this man was great among all the people of the east.
The riches which he hath swallowed, he shall vomit up, and God shall draw them out of his belly.
He shall suck the head of asps, and the viper's tongue shall kill him.
Let him not see the streams of the river, the brooks of honey and of butter.
They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment they go down to hell.
If he shall heap together silver as earth, and prepare raiment as clay,
If I have thought gold my strength, and have said to fine gold: My confidence:
If I have rejoiced over my great riches, and because my hand had gotten much.
Which is a very great iniquity, and a denial against the most high God.
