  1. If I have despised to abide judgment with my manservant, or my maidservant, when they had any controversy against me:

  2. For what shall I do when God shall rise to judge? and when he shall examine, what shall I answer him?

  3. Did not he that made me in the womb make him also: and did not one and the same form me in the womb?

  4. Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my iniquity.

  5. Wash me yet more from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

  6. For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me.

  7. To thee only have I sinned, and have done evil before thee: that thou mayst be justified in thy words, and mayst overcome when thou art judged.

  8. The soul that sinneth, the same shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, and the father shall not bear the iniquity of the son: the justice of the just shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

  9. But if the wicked do penance for all his sins which he hath committed, and keep all my commandments, and do judgment, and justice, living he shall live, and shall not die.

  10. I will not remember all his iniquities that he hath done: in his justice which he hath wrought, he shall live.

  11. Is it my will that a sinner should die, saith the Lord God, and not that he should be converted from his ways, and live?

  12. But if the just man turn himself away from his justice, and do iniquity according to all the abominations which the wicked man useth to work, shall he live? all his justices which he hath done, shall not be remembered: in the prevarication, by which he hath prevaricated, and in his sin, which he hath committed, in them he shall die.

  13. And you have said: The way of the Lord is not right. Hear ye, therefore, O house of Israel: Is it my way that is not right, and are not rather your ways perverse?

  14. For when the just turneth himself away from his justice, and comitteth iniquity, he shall die therein: in the injustice that he hath wrought he shall die.

  15. And when the wicked turneth himself away from his wickedness, which he hath wrought, and doeth judgment, and justice: he shall save his soul alive.

  16. Because he considereth and turneth away himself from all his iniquities which he hath wrought, he shall surely live, and not die.

  17. I beheld till thrones were placed, and the ancient of days sat: his garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like clean wool: his throne like flames of fire: the wheels of it like a burning fire.

  18. A swift stream of fire issued forth from before him: thousands of thousands ministered to him, and ten thousand times a hundred thousand stood before him: the judgment sat, and the books were opened.

  19. Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name?

  20. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

  21. But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment.

  22. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

  23. The men of Ninive shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they did penance at the preaching of Jonas. And behold a greater than Jonas here.

  24. The queen of the south shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold a greater than Solomon here.

  25. Even as cockle therefore is gathered up, and burnt with fire: so shall it be at the end of the world.
