  1. Thou shalt not molest a stranger, nor afflict him: for yourselves also were strangers in the land of Egypt.

  2. You shall not hurt a widow or an orphan.

  11. Thou shalt follow justly after that which is just: that thou mayst live and possess the land, which the Lord thy God shall give thee.

  12. Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger nor of the fatherless, neither shalt thou take away the widow's raiment for a pledge.

  13. Remember that thou wast a slave in Egypt, and the Lord thy God delivered thee from thence. Therefore I command thee to do this thing.

  14. I have sowed sackcloth upon my skin, and have covered my flesh with ashes.

  15. My face is swollen with weeping, and my eyelids are dim.

  16. If I have despised to abide judgment with my manservant, or my maidservant, when they had any controversy against me:

  17. For what shall I do when God shall rise to judge? and when he shall examine, what shall I answer him?

  18. Did not he that made me in the womb make him also: and did not one and the same form me in the womb?

  19. Give not to kings, O Lamuel, give not wine to kings: because there is no secret where drunkenness reigneth:

  20. And lest they drink and forget judgments, and pervert the cause of the children of the poor.

  21. Thus saith the Lord: Execute judgment and justice, and deliver him that is oppressed out of the hand of the oppressor: and afflict not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, nor oppress them unjustly: and shed not innocent blood in this place.

  22. For if you will do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house, kings of the race of David sitting upon his throne, and riding in chariots and on horses, they and their servants, and their people.

  23. But if you will not hearken to these words: I swear by myself, saith the Lord, that this house shall become a desolation.
