Bible Verses About Guest

When thou shalt sit to eat with a prince, consider diligently what is set before thy face:

And put a knife to thy throat, if it be so that thou have thy soul in thy own power.

Be not desirous of his meats, in which is the bread of deceit.

Eat not with an envious man, and desire not his meats:

Because, like a soothsayer, and diviner, he thinketh that which he knoweth not. Eat and drink, will he say to thee: and his mind is not with thee.

The meats which thou hadst eaten, thou shalt vomit up: and shalt loose thy beautiful words.

Appear not glorious before the king, and stand not in the place of great men.

For it is better that it should be said to thee: Come up hither; than that thou shouldst be humbled before the prince.

Into whatever house you enter, first say: Peace be to this house.

And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall return to you.

And in the same house, remain, eating and drinking such things as they have: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house.

And he spoke a parable also to them that were invited, marking how they chose the first seats at the table, saying to them:

When thou art invited to a wedding, sit not down in the first place, lest perhaps one more honourable than thou be invited by him:

And he that invited thee and him, come and say to thee: Give this man place. And then thou begin with shame to take the lowest place.

But when thou art invited, go, sit down in the lowest place; that when he who invited thee cometh, he may say to thee: Friend, go up higher. Then shalt thou have glory before them that sit at table with thee.

Because every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
