The soldiers took the money and did as they were told, and this story has been spread about by Judeans till this very day.

The soldiers led him away inside the palace (that is, the headquarters build ing) and called together the whole battalion.

They dressed him in purple and wove thorn branches into a crown, which they put on him.

Then they began to salute him, "Hail to the King of the Jews!"

They hit him on the head with a stick, spat on him and kneeled in mock worship of him.

and they gave him wine spiced with myrrh, but he didn't take it.

Then they nailed him to the execution-stake; and they divided his clothes among themselves, throwing dice to determine what each man should get.

Some soldiers asked him, "What about us? What should we do?" To them he said, "Don't intimidate anyone, don't accuse people falsely, and be satisfied with your pay."

He approached the head cohanim and the Temple guard and discussed with them how he might turn Yeshua over to them.

Herod and his soldiers treated Yeshua with contempt and made fun of him. Then, dressing him in an elegant robe, they sent him back to Pilate.

The soldiers too ridiculed him; they came up, offered him vinegar

and said, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself!”

When the soldiers had nailed Yeshua to the stake, they took his clothes and divided them into four shares, a share for each soldier, with the under-robe left over. Now the under-robe was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom;

so they said to one another, “We shouldn’t tear it in pieces; let’s draw for it.” This happened in order to fulfill the words from the Tanakh, “They divided my clothes among themselves and gambled for my robe.” This is why the soldiers did these things.

so when Herod seized him, he threw him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each, with the intention of bringing him to public trial after Pesach.

So Kefa was being held under watch in prison, but intense prayer was being made to God on his behalf by the Messianic community.

The night before Herod was going to bring him to trial, Kefa was sleeping between two soldiers. He was bound with two chains; and guards were at the door, keeping watch over the prison.

Herod had a thorough search made for him, but they failed to find him, so he cross-examined the guards and ordered them put to death. Then Herod went down from Y’hudah to Caesarea and spent some time there.

But while they were attempting to kill him, word reached the commander of the Roman battalion that all Yerushalayim was in turmoil.

Immediately he took officers and soldiers and charged down upon them. As soon as they saw the commander, they quit beating Sha’ul.

Then the commander came up, arrested him and ordered him to be tied up with two chains. He asked who he was and what he had done.

Everyone in the crowd shouted something different; so, since he couldn’t find out what had happened because of the uproar, he ordered him brought to the barracks.
