  1. So Elijah did what the LORD had told him, and he went and lived by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.

  6. “Do not be afraid,” Elijah said to her. “Go and do as you have said. But first make me a small cake of bread from what you have, and bring it out to me. Afterward, make some for yourself and your son,

  7. Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat.

  8. For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe them in rags.

  9. Some of those present, however, expressed their indignation to one another: “Why this waste of perfume?

  10. It could have been sold for over three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor.” And they scolded her.
