  1. God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

  8. then it shall happen that to the place which the LORD your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to the LORD.

  9. You shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you, and your sons, your daughters, your male servants, your female servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

  10. but at the place which the LORD your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell in, there you shall sacrifice the Passover at evening, at the going down of the sun, at the season that you came out of Egypt.

  11. You shall roast and eat it in the place which the LORD your God chooses. In the morning you shall return to your tents.

  12. Six days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to the LORD your God. You shall do no work.

  13. when all Israel has come to appear before the LORD your God in the place which he will choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

  14. Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones, and the foreigners who are within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law;

  15. and that their children, who have not known, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as you live in the land where you go over the Jordan to possess it.”

  16. They will call the peoples to the mountain. There they will offer sacrifices of righteousness, for they will draw out the abundance of the seas, the hidden treasures of the sand.”

  17. but you shall fear the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, and you shall bow yourselves to him, and you shall sacrifice to him.

  18. So the king will desire your beauty, honor him, for he is your lord.

  19. Make vows to the LORD your God, and fulfill them! Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.

  20. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come into his courts.

  21. Worship the LORD in holy array. Tremble before him, all the earth.

  22. Let all them be shamed who serve engraved images, who boast in their idols. Worship him, all you gods!

  23. Exalt the LORD our God. Worship at his footstool. He is Holy!

  24. Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders, and all the inhabitants of the land, to the house of the LORD, your God, and cry to the LORD.

  25. Alas for the day! For the day of the LORD is at hand, and it will come as destruction from the Almighty.
