  1. Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

  9. And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.

  10. You must only offer the Passover sacrifice at the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for His Name. Do this in the evening as the sun sets, at the same time you departed from Egypt.

  11. And you shall roast it and eat it in the place the LORD your God will choose, and in the morning you shall return to your tents.

  12. For six days you must eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day you shall hold a solemn assembly to the LORD your God, and you must not do any work.

  13. when all Israel comes before the LORD your God at the place He will choose, you are to read this law in the hearing of all Israel.

  14. Assemble the people—men, women, children, and the foreigners within your gates—so that they may listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and to follow carefully all the words of this law.

  15. Then their children who do not know the law will listen and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as you live in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”

  16. They will call the peoples to a mountain; there they will offer sacrifices of righteousness. For they will feast on the abundance of the seas and the hidden treasures of the sand.”

  17. Instead, worship the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm. You are to bow down to Him and offer sacrifices to Him.

  18. and the king will desire your beauty; bow to him, for he is your lord.

  19. Make and fulfill your vows to the LORD your God; let all the neighboring lands bring tribute to Him who is to be feared.

  20. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and enter His courts.

  21. Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth.

  22. All worshipers of images are put to shame— those who boast in idols. Worship Him, all you gods!

  23. Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at His footstool; He is holy!

  24. Consecrate a fast; proclaim a solemn assembly! Gather the elders and all the residents of the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.

  25. Alas for the day! For the Day of the LORD is near, and it will come as destruction from the Almighty.
