Bible Verses About Sieges: Often suffered from famine

As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”

He said, “If the LORD doesn’t help you, from where could I help you? From of the threshing floor, or from the wine press?”

The king said to her, “What ails you?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’

So we boiled my son, and ate him: and I said to her on the next day, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him;’ and she has hidden her son.”

On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

He who is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he who is near shall fall by the sword; and he who remains and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish my wrath on them.
