  6. Then I returned and saw vanity under the sun.

  7. There is one who is alone, and he has neither son nor brother. There is no end to all of his labor, neither are his eyes satisfied with wealth. “For whom then, do I labor, and deprive my soul of enjoyment?” This also is vanity. Yes, it is a miserable business.

  8. He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase: this also is vanity.

  9. When goods increase, those who eat them are increased; and what advantage is there to its owner, except to feast on them with his eyes?

  10. The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching;

  11. not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;
