¶ And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
¶ The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, [see that ye] love one another with a pure heart fervently:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
¶ Let brotherly love continue.
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
¶ Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
¶ Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all [of you] be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
So that we may boldly say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
¶ Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
