  1. This then I say and testify in the Lord: That henceforward you walk not as also the Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind:

  2. From which things some, going astray, are turned aside unto vain babbling:

  3. Desiring to be teachers of the law: understanding neither the things they say, nor whereof they affirm.

  9. Be not led away with various and strange doctrines. For it is best that the heart be established with grace, not with meats: which have not profited those that walk in them.

  10. And if any man think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue but deceiving his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

  11. What shall it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but hath not works? Shall faith be able to save him?

  12. Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as gold or silver, from your vain conversation of the tradition of your fathers:

  13. For, speaking proud words of vanity, they allure by the desires of fleshly riotousness those who for a little while escape, such as converse in error:
